Jefferson School Expectations

Jefferson School has developed "Guidelines for Success".  The Jefferson School staff asks that all students and staff members abide by three guidelines.  These three guidelines will help all students attain success this school year.  The guidelines are: 

Be Respectful

Be Responsible

Be Safe

Attached is a copy of the behavior matrix for the 2011-2012 school year.  The behavior matrix lists the expectations for student behavior at specific locations throughout the school building.  We ask that you review this with your students and discuss how they can be successful this school year by following the guidelines.

Classroom
  • Voice level 0,1,2, or 3
  • Allow teachers to teach and students to learn
  • Use kind land appropriate language
  • Treat all classmates and guests appropriately
  • Be prepared
  • Arrive on time
  • Follow classroom expectations
  • Take ownership of your actions
  • Keep workspace clean and clear
  • Sit in your chair correctly - all legs on the floor
  • Know the emergency procedures
  • Hands and feet to self
  • Walk at all times
  • Use classroom materials properly
  • Push in chairs
Washroom
  • Voice level 0 or 1
  • Flush
  • Use the equipment appropriately
  • Respect the privacy of others
  • Leave area clean

 

  • Report any problems to your teacher
  • Return to class promptly
  • Use the washroom quickly and quietly
  • 1-2-3

 

  • Wash hands with soap and water
  • Keep water in the sink
  • Walk at all times

 

Hallways
  • Voice level 0 or 1
  • Enjoy artwork or class work with your eyes
  • Hold the door for the person behind you
  • Use your locker only
  • Close locker quietly

 

  • Help those who need assistance
  • Go directly to where you need to be

 

  • Keep moving and walk on the right side  of the hallway
  • Keep hallways clean and clear
  • Watch where you are walking and look forward
  • Walk at all times

 

Stairways
  • Voice level 0 or 1
  • Keep hands and feet to self

 

  • Help those who need assistance
  • Go directly to where you need to be

 

  • Walk on the right side of the stairway
  • Be sure to touch each step with a foot
  • Use the handrail

 

Lunchroom
  • Voice level 2
  • Use kind and appropriate language
  • Use good table manners
  • Clean up after yourself
  • Stay in your seat
  • Raise your hand for assistance
  • Walk at all times
  • Chew your food before speaking
  • Eat your food only
Kitchen
  • Use appropriate language
  • Voice level 2
  • Use good manners

 

  • Take one lunch and one milk
  • Have your lunch card ready

 

  • Stay in line and keep hands and feet to yourself
Entering/Exiting the Building
  • Voice level 1 or 2
  • Hold the door for the person behind you
  • Use polite and good manners
  • Help those who need assistance
  • Dress for the weather
  • Sticks, rocks and snow stay on the ground
  • Walk on sidewalks
  • Stand in class line
  • Hands and feet to self
  • Go directly home
Library
  • Voice level 1

Outdoor Recess

Music
  • Voice level 0, 1 or 2
  • Allow for personal space
  • Listen carefully when someone is speaking, signing or performing

 

  • Use instruments and materials appropriately
  • Organize instruments and materials carefully when finished with them

 

  • Enter and exit the room quietly and orderly
  • Stay at the assigned area of the classroom

 

Physical Education
  • Voice level 2, 3 or 4
  • Ears Listening
  • Eyes Watching
  • Positive Communication

  • Resolve conflicts positively

Bus

  • Keep all body parts inside of the bus and to yourself
  • Stay seated and facing forward

 

Office
  • Voice level 1 or 2
  • Use please and thank you
  • Wait your turn at the front desk

 

  • Obtain a tardy slip if you are late
  • Return to class promptly
Emergency Procedures
  • Voice level 0 or 1
  • Move in an orderly and timely fashion
  • Take every incident seriously

 

  • Know the procedures
  • Help others who need assistance

Health Office
