|
In order to receive full credit on any assignment, it must be completed on time.
HOMEWORK POLICY
Homework is a valuable tool in helping students make the most of their experience in school. I give homework because it helps to reinforce what has been taught in class, prepares students for future lessons, extends concepts, teaches responsibility, and helps students to develop positive study habits for the future.
READING
Students are to read for approximately one-half hour at home daily. They should complete a reading response on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights.
SPELLING
Students will receive a list of words each Monday. Students will be expected to study the words at home for the unit tests. Students may also earn two points extra credit to their test grade each week by writing the words from their list five times each by Friday. They will be given a spelling assignment each week that is due by Friday.
MATH
Students will receive math homework approximately three times a week to reinforce specific math concepts that we are learning.
SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES
Science and Social Studies homework will be given approximately two times a week. Generally students are given time in class to work on their assignments, however, they may need additional time at home to finish any work, or complete additional work.
***Ultimately, it is up to the student as to whether or not he/she chooses to use the time given in class for assignments wisely. If there is a legitimate reason why a student is not able to finish the homework, the parent/guardian must send a note to me on the day the homework is due. This note should explain the reason the work is not completed and be signed. Without this note, late work will be graded down. Please check your childâs assignment notebook nightly!
