| WHAT ARE WE LEARNING |
Math: We are studying ratios. Ratios involve making comparisons between two things. During our unit of study we will be comparing such things as miles per hour, price per unit, and scaled drawings.
Science: We have begun our unit on cells. Students will be learning about the types of cells in our bodies and other species, and their unique purposes.
Reading & Communications: What is important to know? We will be continually revisiting this question while we read nonfiction selections.
Social Studies: We are currently learning about Eastern Europe. Students will be creating travel brochures with a partner on an assigned country.
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS
Daily: Please check your child's assignment notebook for other daily assignments.
Long Term: Fantasy Book Report - Due January 31, 2012

All assignments are an extension of what was learned in class. Please monitor that homework is worked on each night. Students are expected to complete all assignments and late work is always accepted! Students should generally expect approximately 60 minutes of homework per night. Please have a calculator. |

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Students are expected to have THEIR OWN calculator for classroom and home use! Please monitor that homework is worked on each night and that your student writes down the things that they don't understand. Spelling homework is due each Friday. January's book report is on a FANTASY novel. Students will be creating a Quadrama for their final presentation. A quadrama is created through paper folding (oragami). Students will be given the four sheets of paper needed for creating their project. Each section of the quadrama will have a different requirement. All details, materials, and rubrics were given to the students in class. There is a spelling test at the end of each week. |
