We are using our new Avenues ESL program in first grade, and our Spanish reading program Lectura. Please help your child with the mini-reader and activity pages! Este es el comienzo del nuevo programa de lectura en ingles, Avenues, y tambien estaremos usando el programa de lectura en espanol Lectura! Favor de ayudar a su hijo(a) con el librito de cuentos y las hojas de practica.

La lectura es muy importante. Lleve a su hijo(a) a la biblioteca y permita que escoja los libros que mas le gusten. No es solamente aprender a leer, sino tambien aprender a disfrutar la lectura!!

CLASSROOM HOMEWORK POLICY Students will have homework every night. It is the student's responsibility to take the homework folder home every night, and complete all the assignments. Each student is expected to read at least thirty minutes every night. School assignments should be completed and turned in on time. If homework or class assignments are not completed, the student will finish them during the scheduled recess time in school. Los estudiantes tendran tarea todas las noches. Es la responsibilidad del estudiante de llevarse la tarea para la casa. El estudiante debe hacer sus tareas y leer por lo menos treinta minutos cada noche. El trabajo de la escuela tiene que hacerse en la clase. Si algun trabajo no se termina, el estudiante terminara el trabajo o tarea durante el tiempo de recreo.

We will be sending information for our February 9th parent/teacher conferences.
Students will be able to earn Riley Rockets Rising Star Pink Tickets! Keep up the good manners and good behavior.
Enjoy a great book with a friend! Go visit your local library and see what you can find! This week we are suggesting that you read your favorite book and bring it to school and share it with the class!
Our students are so excited about our Literacy Backpacks! Literacy Backpacks are available to promote literacy within the home environment. They are meant to be something that is enjoyed between a parent and child. The student can take the backpack home and choose one activity to share with a parent. Every backpack contains a book, manipulatives and activity cards. Typically there are about 5 activities that parents may choose to do with their child, however there are no hard and fast rules. A workpage will also be included and the child is asked to completed it and return it to school with the backpack the next day. They must ensure that everything is placed back in the bag - and then they are ready for their next backpack. Hope you and your child are able to enjoy this time together.
