This is a short week so the pacing will be quicker. All tests will be given on Thursday.

Reading- We are now in Unit 4 stories. Each week will focus on a skill and vocabulary. As the year progresses the skills and stories become more difficult and require more effort.

We are reading Rocks in his head and focus on skill and vocabulary in this passage HW:Story Packet Mon page 

Please practice daily vocab flash cards I provide.

 

Math- Beginning Chapter 8 Geometry. There is a lot of vocabulary with this chapter. Be sure your child keeps up with new words and concepts daily.

Reminder: No school Monday Feb 13 as well.

 

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS Most days there is time given in class to start or finish homework. No more than 1 hour should ever be spent on homework. Please contact me if your child is spending more than 1 hour on homework! I ask each student to read 30 minutes each night. They must write a summary and record the pages read in their log. This log is collected each Monday

CLASSROOM HOMEWORK POLICY
I expect students to attempt all assignments and complete them to the best of their abilities. After each lesson, these pages are assigned to allow the student time to practice and use the skills taught. It also allow me to see where my students are struggling.

Kids can learn facts while playing games and doing projects. Math is fun!

            Language Arts Site  Langauage Arts Internet Game

Just choose the skill you want to practice then choose they game to play using that skill!

            Reading Site  Reading Planet

This site has games and online reading material for kids. They also offer tips on how to choose a great book for you

 

 

DISTRICT 87 RULES:

  1. Follow directions when given.
  2. Stay on task, work quietly.
  3. Keep hands, feet, and objects away from others.
  4. Come prepared for class.
  5. Respect yourself, others, and everyone's property.

 

 

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS     Conferences Feb 9, 2012

Report cards went home Fri Feb 3. Read and review grades, skill, and comments from 2nd quarter. Please return signed envelope.

1. Please check your child's backpack every day for graded papers and notes from the school or myself. 

2. Please empty the take home folder of all papers that are graded and flyers. Only current work should be in this folder!

3. Please check your child's homework each night for completeness and effort.

 

 READ EVERY NIGHT!  I can not stress enough the importance of daily reading. In order for your child to grow and progress as well as maintain success at their grade level they must read daily. They must read aloud and silently. You can ask questions about what they are reading. They should re-read passages to ensure understanding.   Practice make perfect!
