CLASSROOM HOMEWORK POLICY Homework Policy We believe that homework is an important part of the school curriculum and must be done on a regular basis in order for children to grow and learn. Every student will be receiving approximately 30 minutes of homework each school night in addition to 30 minutes of reading. Work is expected to be done the next day unless there are EXTREME circumstances and the parent/guardian has written a note explaining what happened. If this does happen, the child is expected to turn in the homework within one school day. The student will receive a grade of “zero” in the grade book until the homework is turned in. If a child is absent from class, he/she is still expected to complete the homework that was assigned. Your child’s teacher will work with the student to fill him/her in on what he/she has missed, but he/she is responsible for completing it in three days. When an extended absence occurs, the teacher will discuss missing work with the parent/guardian and decide dates for turning those assignments in. Each student has an assignment notebook that he/she fills out everyday there is school. Your child is responsible for writing down his/her assignments correctly. We strongly encourage the parents to check and initial the assignment notebook everyday. If your child does NOT turn in an assignment on the date that it is due, they need to complete it and turn it as soon as possible. If the assignment is one day late, the highest grade it can receive is a “C”. If it is turned after that, the highest grade it can receive is a “F” (60%). This is only fair to the students who turn their work in on time. Each Friday, a "Friday Folder" will be sent home. This folder will contain graded papers. Please look through all of the graded papers and then sign next to the corresponding date to indicate you have looked at the papers inside of the folder. Thank you for your support. |
