CLASSROOM HOMEWORK POLICY: Schoolbus
Homework Policy in Room 104:
Aligning with District 87's policies on homework, homework is an extension of the learning that occurs in the classroom. Homework will be assigned daily.  Homework should take students 20 minutes to complete, not including reading each evening, studying for tests, and book reports.  Spelling and Reading tests will be given every Friday, unless otherwise stated. Each week a new Spelling packet will be given out on Monday and will be due on Thursday, unless otherwise stated.  Students will be assigned one activity each day to complete for homework. On the back of the homework sheet will be the Math homework for the night, practice from class. We do several examples in class in Math and take home their Math page from class. I am constantly reminding students if they have questions to raise their hand, and I am here to help them.
I expect students to do their best on homework.  I expect homework to be neat, not sloppy.  I expect students to do the work on their own and only ask for help after they have given it their best effort.  If possible, I would appreciate it if a parent would spend a few minutes each evening reviewing completed homework assignments. I strongly believe in the value positive support plays in motivating children to develop good study habits.  I will give students praise and other incentives when they do their homework. Please make sure that any Library books or textbooks brought home are returned to school the next day, so students can use them in school.

Consequences:

If a student does not complete their homework, which includes your signature on their Daily Homework Sheet and Daily Homework Reading Log, they will receive a color change. In addition, a student will receive a strike on our Baseball Homework Chart. This shows and reminds students that they are missing a or more than one homework assignment. Any unfinished class work and homework will be finished during recess to demonstrate responsibility.

I know that at times, there is a legitimate reason a student is not able to finish their homework.  Please send a short note to me explaining why the homework was not completed and when I can expect it to be done.  Also, feel free to contact me at any time to discuss questions you may have about homework.
