                    Classroom Management System

If you choose to break a rule, it will be noted on the behavior chart as follows...

1st time:    Flip card to yellow:  Warning

2nd time:    Flip card to orange:  Lose 8 minutes of recess: students must complete a consequence reflection.

3rd time:     Flip card to Blue: Lose recess and parents will be notified; students must complete a consequence reflection

4th time/Severe Disruption: Flip card to red: lose recess, parents will be notified, and an appropriate consequence, such as a conduct report or disciplinary referral will be given.

Cards are returned to green every morning.

Each students will write a consequence reflection if his or her card is flipped to orange, blue or red.  A copy of the consequence reflection will be sent home for a parent signature and returned to school the next day.

If a conduct report or a disciplinary referral is given, it must be returned the next day with a parent signature.

 

                                                Classroom Rewards

If you choose to follow the rules, you may receive...

    1.  Praise

    2.  Raffle ticket

    3.  Homework pass

    4. Positive not or certificate to take home

    5.  Positive parent phone call home

    6.  Extra recess; free time

    7.  Special goodies:  stickers, stars, bookmarks, small prize

    8.  Golden Ticket

Students are given a ticket for every day they do not get a color change.  Students put their names on the ticket and place the ticket in a raffle jar.  Every Friday a raffle will occur and a ticket will be chosen.  The student whose name is on the ticket will have the choice to receive a prize or a homework pass.  The students also have the opportunity to earn a homework pass be completing their homework and turning it on time for the entire week. The homework pass may be turned in for any one assignment, except quizzes, tests, and projects.

 

                           

Weekly Objectives:

Reading:  

                    Students will determine cause and effect when reading to help in comprehension.

            Students will use determine plot and theme when reading a story.

                    Students will visualize when reading to help in comprehension.

                    Students will use prefixes and suffixes to determine the meaning of unknown words.

           

 

            This Week's Vocabulary Words: 

Unit 6: Week 2

bows- a bending of the head or body in greeting, respect, worship, or submission.

chilly- unpleasantly cool

foolish- without good sense: unwise

foreign-  of or from another country

narrow- not wide or broad

perches - sits or rests on something

recipe - a list of ingredients and instruction for making something to eat.

 

Unit 6: Week 4

crystal- a hard, solid piece of some substance that is naturally formed on flat surfaces and angles

discovery - see or find something for the first time

goal- something that is desired; aim

journey - a long trip

joyful- feeling, showing, or causing great happiness; glad

scoop - a tool shaped like a small shovel, used for taking up substances

unaware- not knowing or realizing

 

Math:  

                Students will divide sets into a group.

                Students will identify and determine a division sentence to be used. 

                Students will divide numbers, using all facts. 

                Students will divide numbers with remainders. 

               Students will write fractions and decimals in tenths and hundredths.  

                Students will compare and order decimals to hundredths.   

               Students will add and subtract decimals in tenths and hundredths.  

                Students will make an organized list to represent information given in a problem.      

                                                            

Language Arts/Writing:

                Students will define and identify abbreviations.  

                Students will use abbreviations in their writing.    

                Students will spell and identify words that have the schwa sound.  

                Students will define and identify commas.  

                Students will use commas in writing.

                                                                                           

Science:  

             

 

Social Studies:  

                    Students will describe the Yurok people and the concept of an economy.

                   Students will tell about the Cherokee and describe the Trail of Tears.

            Students tell about the Haudenosaunee and describe the government.

HOMEWORK POLICY

CLICK TO VIEW BERKELEY 87 HOMEWORK PROGRAM

Each night, your child is expected to complete 30 minutes of homework that does not include reading practice.  As part of the nightly 30 minutes of homework, your child must practice his or her spelling words, and weekly math facts.  Any unfinished class work must be completed for homework.  All homework is to be completed neatly and turned in the next day.

              IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

 

The students should be  practicing their math facts and spelling words nightly.   Due to Terra Nov Testing  and our field trip last week, our schedule was thrown off slightly.  On Monday, we will have our Reading Selection , Writing, and Math test.  We will start  Unit 6: Week 4 on Tuesday.
